A home automation system that makes an apartment more comfortable and secure is called a smart home.
Smart home systems include:
Functional components such as smart sensors, sockets, lighting, heating, cameras and alarms.
All of them are connected to each other, so that family members can control all the functions and devices in their apartment from the level of a mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet. Using the mobile app, you can turn devices on and off, switch songs in the player, adjust the temperature and brightness of lighting, and so on. Smart home allows you to control home appliances in the apartment, as well as outside it — from anywhere in the World where there is Internet access.
What is a smart home?
Intelligent systems are more than just automatic control of various devices. The word system is the key word. Traditional installations are responsible for performing specific tasks. For example, heating provides heat, and ventilation provides fresh air. Smart installation works differently. It does not have a narrow, specialized field of activity. Instead, it controls the collaboration of other installations and any equipment in the house.
Thanks to this, you do not need to do all this manually. It is important to note that in most cases, the system will do everything itself, without the user’s participation. Of course, you can check any settings at any time and change them as you see fit. Even when no one is at home, it is possible to remotely change the temperature, for example, before returning home.
What are smart home products?
A smart home can consist of dozens of different products, divided into:
Central block;
management components (for device management);
functional components (providing functionality).
The latter can also be divided by functionality: multimedia, climate, and security.
The main smart home products include:
intelligent sensors (motion detection, gas leakage, flooding or fire, etc.)
intelligent lighting and heating
alarm systems (including sirens) and surveillance cameras
smart sockets (ability to remotely turn devices on and off and monitor power consumption)
panels, buttons, and IR remote controls (used to control the system)
switch (combining all these elements together)
What is a Smart home?
A smart home is a network of connected devices that communicate with each other over an Internet connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet LAN) or other communication standard (such as ZigBee or Z-Wave).
According to this concept, one device can give instructions to another to perform a task assigned to it by the user.
In a smart home, individual components are connected in this way to the control panel, which, in turn, integrates with the mobile app on the user’s smartphone — thanks to this, you can simply touch the screen of your cell phone to turn off the TV, turn on music, reduce the brightness of the lighting or increase the temperature in the room.
This is, of course, just one example of how to use the Internet of things and the smart home system.
